| Sept 18 | (Sat) Chemical Clean Sweep at the Iowa County Highway Department from 8:00 am - noon. The disposal of any unwanted Household and Agricultural chemicals, herbicides, poison, or other hazardous wastes will be offered to homeowners, farmers and rural landowners. Businesses and local governments can also contract for waste disposal. Due to substantial budget constraints, there will be a fee based on the amount of chemicals being brought to the Clean Sweep site: 1 to 10 pounds will cost $10, 11 to 50 pounds is $40, 51 to 100 pounds is $60, and 101 to 200 pounds is $100. Any amounts above 200 pounds, please call for an estimate. In order to attend, county residents must pre-register by calling Iowa County Extension office at (608) 935-0391. Please be prepared to give the types of hazardous waste that will be brought to the disposal site and the amounts. Any chemicals that aren't registered will have to be turned away. |
